Each layer is a testament to velvety richness, while the creamy frosting adds a luxurious touch.

Total time: 2hr 35min Servings: 8

Ingredients :

Chocolate Cake layers (all ingredients must be at room temp)

300 g buttermilk (or any thick dairy)

3 large eggs

300 ml hot coffee

120 g butter

30 g oil

280 g white sugar

Dry ingredients:

300 g all purpose flour

45 g cocoa powder

2 tsp baking powder

3 tsp baking soda

a pinch of salt

𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 :

Step 1 - Preheat oven to 180°C (fan) and combine all the dry ingredients.

Step 2 - In another bowl, whisk eggs and sugar together by hand, and then add the oil and butter and mix.

Step 3 - Add buttermilk and vanilla extract and whisk again.

Step 4 - Sift in the dry ingredients and fold. Lastly add the hot coffee and stir till homogenius.

Step 5 - Pour the batter into 2x22 cm cake tins and bake for around 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out crumbly.

Step 6 - Combine creamcheese with cocoa powder with a electric mixer.

Step 7 - Add in the melted dark chocolate and mix on medium speed.

Step 8 - Add in the powdered sugar a little at a time. Adjust to your liking. The dark chocolate will help stabilize the filling, so if you feel like it’s a bit runny, just put it in the fridge.

Step 9 - Assemble the cake by cutting the two layers evenly into 4 and fill each layer with around 1/5 of the filling.

Step 10 - Save 2/5 of the filling for the outer coating.

Step 11 - Crumbcoat the cake with 1/5 of the filling, set in the fridge for 30 min. and then do a last coat with the remaining filling.

Step 12 - Do small swirls or add additional decoration. Set in the fridge for 2 hours.
